Motherhood

Motherhood Update + Mommy and Me Session

Lyla is officially in the terrible two’s. Really, she has been in the terrible two’s for a couple months.

As I’ve said before on social media, I believe it is important to be genuine about life, so I’m not going to lie and say that Lyla is a little angel all the time OR that I always know how to handle it the best way.

In this stage of life, it is incredibly easy to feel the “mommy guilt.” I get mommy guilt for everything from disciplining too much to disciplining not enough to knowing how to balance two- when they are both big feelers.  But to all those mommy’s out there who ever feel these things, we need to remember that yes it is important to try our best but keep in mind that we are human. We are going to mess up. We are not always going to be able to keep up with the Jones’. But take one day at a time.

I have to share a little bit on Matthew real quick. His compassionate side likes to peek out sometimes when I’m stressed. It is really precious (and also winds up giving me mommy guilt- there we go again). From time to time, he will intervene and help me, almost acting like a mini dad. The other day I was exhausted from Lyla’s incessant crying, and after finally getting her to stop, I laid down to rest on the couch. Well she started wailing again and I started to get back up- whilst letting out some sort of pathetic moan- but Matthew said to me, “No, mom I got it. You lay back down. I’ll go find her a paci.” Ugh! My heart.

Yes this motherhood thing can be hard but it has it’s amazing rewarding moments, we all know. I hope all Mother’s out there get a chance to be with their children today and feel loved and celebrated. If not, let me be the one to tell you, Happy Mother’s Day! You are appreciated for all your hard work and love.

Below are a few favorites from our Mommy and Me mini session, captured by my own talented mother! Love you mom!!
